Introduction

Southwest Montage

November 2008 Photography Journey

As we prepare for a long journey to foreign countries, the nostalgia for our favorite places in the Southwest fails to relent. This trip is a little sad because we will be saying goodbye to the Southwest for the next several years.

But for now, we are thrilled in anticipation of a three-week photographic adventure.

We’ll be visiting some familiar places, as well as having new discoveries for one or both of us.

Our journey will start with Utah Canyonlands and Bryce Canyon. Then, we will continue to Tuba City in Arizona and visit the Dinosaur Tracks. We’ll then travel on to Flagstaff, Jerome, Sedona, and Cave Creek. We will settle at an endeared place in the extreme southern part of Arizona that we lovingly nicknamed Sag Med.

After a little rest there, we will visit Agua Prieta in Mexico, take some photos of Chili peppers grown in Hatch, NM, and visit Torreon and another favorite place that we call Little Bisti’hi.

We will also go to the real Bisti’hi or Bad Lands on the Navajo reservation in NM, Shiprock, Valley of the Gods, Utah’s Goosenecks, Mexican Hat, and Painted Desert.

We hope to bring home a lot of beautiful photographs and great memories.

Day One was spent mostly driving west on I-70 through the Rocky Mountains to reach our first destination near Moab, Utah.
